Happy Valentine's Day Marshalji

Happy Valentine's Day-Marshalji
I woke up twice today morning- one when hubbyji dutifully wished me Happy Valentine's before he left for work, to catch a flight at an unearthly hour. Hubbyji now resignedly wishes Me every year, before I unleash the ‘why not...Love needs to be celebrated and expressed too...’ lecture on him. That part of the chore behind him; he kissed me goodbye and left to catch a flight  at 4am. I went back to sleep, my mind buzzing with red hearts, feuding knights fighting for my hand in bloody battles, professing undying love as they fall down on the dusty ground. I fell into a weary sleep and woke up with my knight's steed, neighing relentlessly . Oh shut up, I grumbled...my arm groggily trying to get to the annoying steed.
‘Happy Valentine's Day my baby’, I cheerfully shouted into my son's ear as I tried to wrestle him into a bear hug. ‘Okay mom, happy whatever, now please let me sleep,’ okay I give up. BAAP BETA EK JAISE. I went about doing my mommy chores my Valentine weary heart, resigned itself to get through  another mundane morning. Be practical-Dellu I chided my knight addled brain, we will miss the bus.
So we did what we had to -mother and son- the morning whirlwind brush, bath, change, grab a banana for breakfast and rushed to the bus stop. Alas, just as we turned into the cove where our bus stop is we saw the bus leaving! Aha, my mommy brain superseded the knight obsessed one and went into overdrive. You can’t leave without taking my son, I resolutely tell the back of the bus. Some honking and waving- with the help of some nice morning joggers who tell the driver to stop; our bus comes to a grudging halt. I get out hurriedly with as much dignity as I could muster in my red Pyjamas and pink T with hearts all over it, and see my grumpy son into the bus. “Sorry Bhai, aaj thoda late ho gaya,” I apologized to the Bus Marshal.
He looked at me kindly, “ Aaj velintine hai na, sab late ho rahein hai”
“Oh, Happy Valentine's Day, aapko bhi,” I enthusiastically blurted.
He looked sheepish and gave me a kind smile- the kind that reaches right up to a person's eyes.
As I drove home, the RJ said “ chalye jaldi batayye aapki Valentine stories...phone uthaye...”
This is my Valentine story. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you! Love must be celebrated and expressed.  Love comes in all shapes and hues😊😍!
